![]() It's unlikely, that sideFX can - without having direct access to your system and the resources to debug your system. I am not saying that Houdini 18 is the most stable release ever (I am experiencing random crashes at completely different places than before), but if your installation “crashes reliably”, chances are that you CAN find the AREA of cause for that. Tested the latest apprentice version in Centos, 6.6 and 7 on the same hardware, it crashes. Starting from a different user account, running library access snoopers, having a look into your syslog/notification log, cleaning up settings, checking graphic driver hickups and and and. Tested using Houdini FX 16.0.736, Houdini 16.5.323 and Houdini 16.5.378 (apprentice version) I switched off the cache Simulation on DOP Network, tried with and without use opencl option checked. Now, joking aside: There are SO MANY things you can do in order to circle in on the cause of the problem, most of which really depend on what system you are running. It is possible that your Finder has a defective resource file and a simple clean up of all resource files on your “desktop” will fix the issue. You might want to give a bit more information about your system - from the info you give above, I assume you are running Mac OS 7 with 32MB RAM and a Floppy Disk Drive. ![]() Even if you find someone who experienced that - if SideFX couldn't find a cure for the problem it is unlikely that being two users with that issue changes anything about it. Moin, I am not quite clear what you expect from users who may or may not encounter Houdini crashing “a few seconds of its launch”.
